Kids Helping Kids
At Jane’s Fund, we are not only honored to support children in our community — we are continually humbled and inspired by the incredible ways children show up to support us, too.
Kids know how to dream big, live fearless, and rise to the challenge when given a goal, a mission, and the resources to make a difference. In comparison to adults who are often weighed down by the weight of the world, kids have a "sky is the limit” mentality. In the last few weeks, several kids across our community have stepped up in powerful ways, organizing lemonade stands, selling popsicles, and using their creativity and energy to contribute to numerous projects at Jane’s Fund. These young leaders never hesitated when they learned of the projects Jane’s Fund was supporting this week:
A funeral for an 11-yr-old girl who passed away from a bone tumor
Paying off a car and covering 3 months of mortgage for a family whose child is starting chemotherapy and radiation for brain cancer
Funding middle school field trips to Washington, D.C. and Atlanta — experiences students will never forget
Stocking school stores with earbuds, Crocs, Nike sweatshirts, sports balls, and art supplies — motivating students to earn tickets for attendence, upstanding behavior, and academic success and buy item’s they’ve never had before
After hearing about these initiatives, the kids took action. With unanimous generousity, one group donated their funds to stock school stores and another to pay for a funeral. Positive change in our community starts and ends with kids. Thank you to all the young leaders who gave their time, energy, and resources this week. As they taught and reminded us, no gift or act of kindness is too small or unnoticed, and it takes teamwork, grit, and courage to make a powerful, lasting impact on our community.
