Living Like Max
At just 12 years old, Max has faced more challenges than most people encounter in a lifetime. Diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL) at the age of 4, over the past eight years, Max has battled cancer with a resilience that shines brightly, inspiring everyone around him.
Max’s initial diagnosis came in 2016, and he began an intense regimen of chemotherapy that lasted for 2.5 years. But in 2020, despite his relentless fight, he relapsed, and the battle continued. In 2021, he received a life-saving bone marrow transplant, which gave his family hope for a new chapter. However, in 2023, Max faced another heartbreaking relapse.
Throughout this tumultuous journey, Max and his family have navigated an intricate web of treatments, traveling between Wake Forest, Duke and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Each trip is not just a physical journey but an emotional and financial strain, which is why Jane’s Fund covered four months of mortgage and paid a backlog of car payments in addition to two more months.
Despite these immense challenges, Max’s spirit remains unbreakable. He continues to fight with a courage that moves everyone who meets him. His family remains a pillar of strength, their love and dedication unwavering.
What will you do this week to live fearlessly like Max?
