There’s No Place like Home
At 25 years old, Avery is battling a type of cancer seen almost exclusively in newborn to 2-year-olds. She lives at home with her fiancé and their three daughters, ages 2, 4 and 6.
Though her prognosis is terminal, she will undergo treatment to spend as much time with her young family as possible. Their living conditions were not suitable for her immuno-compromised condition - a mobile home with holes straight through to the ground, visible rot and mold.
With the guidance of her social worker at Atrium Health, Jane’s Fund was able to purchase and move a brand new home to Avery’s land, which she owns. This gift will provide not only a safe and warm place for her to live out her days but also the knowledge that her family will have a safe home when she's gone, and a place to remember her always.
We received a note of gratitude from Avery's mother who said,
"The amount of suffering our family has endured since her diagnosis is immeasurable. I can never thank you enough for such a massive act of kindness and love. This new home has given my daughter hope to continue fighting, when she was ready to give up on us. My granddaughters are so excited and find joy when thinking of their new home, and joy has not been easy for them to find lately!
It doesn't stop there, now I can find some peace in knowing my daughter and granddaughters are living in a safe, stable home with heat and air, no holes throughout the floors and fire hazards each way we turned and, most unbelievably, no payments! My heart and prayers are with Jane's family always now and I pray they find comfort in knowing the difference Jane and themselves make in so many lives that are walking against darkness. THANK YOU FROM MY SOUL!"
