Johnny
Unable to walk as her brain tumor grew, Jane was medically transported through the hospital to radiation treatments by a fellow teenager named Johnny. Wheeling Jane’s hospital bed through back hallways and elevators, Johnny shared with Jane that he was insecure about an upcoming interview because of his smile. Jane made sure her new friend had braces on before she died.
• Braces with orthodontic care: $5,500
“Jane’s spirit was always bright. I didn’t know she was dying as she reminded me to wear my rubber bands and shared secrets to getting my braces off quickly. The gift of braces is impossible to describe.” - JOHNNY

Smiles are contagious. The universal sign of kindness, a smile increases chemicals produced by the brain to alleviate anxiety and depression, creating confidence, and improving relationships.
From an early age, Jane recognized the simple power of a smile in building relationships and encouraging both adults and kids through hardship. At age six, she mailed dollars to Smile Train, a charity that creates smiles by providing free cleft surgery. At age seven, Jane convinced her younger siblings to donate the $874 they had saved for their backyard treehouse to help pay for more surgeries for kids to smile.
