Stephen’s Story
11-year-old Stephen’s family had just welcomed a new baby sister this summer when they received the news that his brain cancer had progressed and his diagnosis was terminal.
His Atrium Health social worker shared that his family had never asked for much help at all. With the newborn in the picture, the financial impact of treatment began taking its toll, compounded by regular travel from Charlotte to Georgia for a clinical trial.
Jane’s Fund paid four months of car payments for Stephen's family to give some financial relief as they balanced travel, treatment and supporting each other.
Three months later, Jane's Fund contributed funds for Stephen's funeral, after he passed away with his parents lying next to him and his dad's hand on his heart . He bravely fought his disease for four years before he identified that he had "had enough" and bravely welcomed heaven as his miracle.
