Don’t wait for Opportunity; Create it.

Playing sports during childhood not only improves physical and mental health, but studies also show kids who engage  in sports are more likely to be leaders, learn teamwork, respond well to discipline, and develop resilience—all critical skills needed to successfully navigate life.

Meet Kristy Boyles: Married, mother of three, Life Coach, Varsity Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Charlotte Country Day School, and the woman who brought girls lacrosse to Charlotte.

Meet Kym Ardrey: a club lacrosse player for Kristy starting in 5th grade, an academic and sports scholarship athlete who graduated from Lindenwood University, and current dental school applicant who is coaching girls lacrosse at Ultimate and Charlotte Country Day School

Having coached and mentored Jane Harrell her entire life, Kristy reached out to Jane’s Fund with a lacrosse dream for Charlotte she had carried for years: let’s get as many lacrosse sticks as possible into the hands of kids who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity. Visions aligned, Kristy helped Jane’s Fund launch summer lacrosse camps in 2023 at Merry Oaks School in partnership with the Greater Enrichment Program. Starting with 40 kids in grades two through five, one year later, the program has expanded its weekly fall lacrosse clinics to 5 schools with 4x the number of 4th and 5th graders participating. Kym currently coordinates the program with current high school lacrosse players who volunteer to coach. India, mother of two in the program recently shared her joy and awe of looking out the window and seeing daughters Kayleigh and McKenzie throwing the lacrosse ball on a Saturday: “I never dreamed when I signed my girls up for GEP that they would be given lacrosse sticks, clinics, and an opportunity to play a sport that I cannot afford.”

Please help Jane’s Fund continue to empower Charlotte’s next generation through lacrosse! All kids deserve the chance to play sports, grow, and thrive in a setting where club lacrosse scholarships and college play is an attainable goal.
