Pennies

One of the infinite gifts of building relationships with community heroes at Jane's Fund is the wisdom and life lessons we learn from people like Principal Tracey Pickard at Ranson Middle School. She is not only teaching students how to lead and grow into the best versions of themselves, but she is also positively impacting all who interact with her.

Encouraged to bring as many pennies to school as possible, middle school students put their collections together and were shocked at the outcome. After hours of counting pennies, over $700 was raised to donate to Hurricane Helene recovery efforts.  Principal Pickard reminds us of many life lessons with the “Penny War Project” but two stand out:

- Students who learn to give AND receive grow up to be better leaders.
- Teamwork with collaboration beats doing life alone.

As Jane's Fund partners with Ranson Middle School to increase attendance with a school store where earned coins are exchanged for a Nike sweatshirt, ear buds, or an art kit, students are eagerly awaiting an overnight trip to Atlanta this spring. We are brainstorming together how best to help eager students fundraise. Motivated to give and not just receive, a school popcorn machine for students to sell the treat at school sporting events may be the perfect place to start.

Thank you, Principal Pickard for humbly reminding us that life can be more rewarding when we give, and working hard together builds a community of lifelong learners, confidence, and self-esteem.

MIRACLES HAPPEN WHEN WE PUT OUR PENNIES TOGETHER.

Please help Jane’s Fund help the Ranson Raiders achieve their goals:
